The predominant element of white matter is the myelin sheath, which comprises about 50% of the total dry weight and is responsible for the gross chemical differ-ences between white and gray matter. THE MYELIN SHEATH The myelin sheath is a greatly extended and modified plasma membrane, which is wrapped around the nerve axon in a spiral fashion.

Acronym for gamma aminobutyric acid one of the most widespread neurotransmitters in the nervous system which largely plays an inhibitory role in the brain Dopamine involved in reward, motivation and motor control directs which behaviors are rewarding eating drinking and sexual behaviors activates.

The myelin sheath is the protective, fatty coating surrounding your nerve fibers, similar to the protective insulation around electrical wires. This coating enables the electrical impulses between nerve cells to travel back and forth rapidly. When myelin becomes damaged, these electrical signals are interrupted and may even stop calamiportayzua.nipafmilucadecketerwalarafa.infoinfo: Colleen Doherty, MD.

The science-centric route taken by the Myelin Sheaths has manifested itself with songs like “Your Acid Is Too Basic,” “Do The Mental Twist,” and “Laboratory Disaster.” However, if a scientific, albeit playfully scientific, theme can be considered a gimmick, that’s where gimmickry begins and ends for the Myelin Sheaths.

damage to the myelin sheath causes and interference with normal axon conduction this leads to dysfunction in the normal processes of the nervous system Etiologies: 1. Primary - initial damage is to the myelin sheath itself (or oligodendrocytes or Schwann cells) 2. Secondary - myelin sheath degenerates due to death of the neuron.

The Myelin Sheaths are a brand new Lethbridge four piece that is the brainchild of Cassandra Ward and Martine Ménard, and which features Paul Lawton (also of Endangered Ape, Square Waves) and Joel Butler (ex-The Void, Boys from Nowhere). Songs tend to be focused on matters of fact and science – “Pi in Yer Eye”, “Fun W/ Science” “Yer Acid is Too Basic”, “What’s Y read more.

The myelin sheaths don't insulate all neurons, however, because of how thick they are. The neurons present in the fight-or-flight response are among the ones that have the myelin sheath. Those neurons will be used for the rapid fight-or-flight responses that are needed in order to go through the neuron path that conducts the signal to the brain.

Fatty acids enhance the sheath's fat content. Flaxseed, fish oils, salmon, walnuts and kidney beans are dense with Omega-3 fatty acids. The myelin sheath is 70 percent fat, all of which comes from such fatty acids. Oleic acid is a major natural contributor to that content. Olive oils, avocados and nuts contain oleic acid.

The myelin sheaths are primarily made up of the essential fatty acid called oleic acid, an omega-6 found in fish, olives, chicken, nuts and seeds. In addition, eating deep-sea fish will provide good quantities of omega-3 fatty acids to help improve mood, learning, memory and brain health.
